  • Find out more about how the voting process works and when the winners will be revealed

Voting has now opened for the 2023 FIFA FIFPRO World 11, the only global player award decided exclusively by footballers.

The FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World 11 and FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11 are comprised of the best footballers from around the globe – voted by the players, for the players.

How does the process work?

FIFPRO and affiliated players unions distribute unique links that give players from all professional football clubs access to a digital voting platform.

Footballers pick the three players who, in their opinion, were the most outstanding in each of the following positions: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards.

The goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards with the most votes in their position make it into the World 11. The 11th spot is assigned to the outfield player with the next highest number of votes.

Players are free to choose any of their peers. The voting tool contains a suggestion list, but players are allowed to add other names if they are not mentioned on said list.

What is the period that players are judged on?

The FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World 11 is comprised of the best 11 men’s players from around the globe. The awards are given to the best players in each position based on their performances during the period 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023 inclusive. Players must have appeared in at least 23 official matches (at domestic top-flight or international level) during that period.

The FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11 consists of the best 11 women’s players from across the world. The awards are given to the best players in each position based on their performances during the period 1 August 2022 to 20 August 2023 inclusive. Players must have appeared in at least 25 official matches (at domestic top-flight or international level) during the aforementioned period.

What happens next?

After the voting period has finished, FIFA and FIFPRO will release squad lists showing the players who have received the most votes for the FIFA FIFPRO Men’s World 11 and FIFA FIFPRO Women’s World 11.

The 11 players within those squads who receive the most votes in their position are then selected for the World 11; to be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2023.
