On 15 December 2025, FIFPRO will celebrate its 60th anniversary – six decades of supporting footballers worldwide.
To honour the significance of this milestone, FIFPRO is planning a year of campaigns, content, and initiatives to commemorate previous achievements and push the global player union forward into the next 60 years.
What to expect over the next 12 months
- History – celebrating FIFPRO achievements from the first 60 years of our organisation;
- People – celebrating the people who make FIFPRO, our member unions and, most importantly, our players;
- Role – exploring FIFPRO’s role in the wider worlds of football, sport and unionism;
- Future – positioning FIFPRO’s role in the future of football;
- Podcast – the launch of a 12-episode monthly podcast hosted by a former international goalkeeper; more details to be released soon.
Member pledge
Member unions will play an important role when it comes to the amplification of FIFPRO’s 60th anniversary campaign.
Starting February 2025, unions will have the option to share a one-page graphics content with a pledge towards the next 60 years of FIFPRO and its members on their social platforms.
Speaking of the campaign, FIFPRO’s Acting Secretary General Stephane Burchkalter said: "Over the last 60 years, FIFPRO has remained steadfast in serving footballers and has played an important role in creating a better industry for players – from Jean-Marc Bosman’s historic freedom of movement ruling to more recent landmark cases such as Sara Bjork and Lassana Diarra.
"While we reflect on a successful opening 60 years, we refuse to rest on our laurels – and we still hold that same desire and hunger to shape a better football landscape for players.
"We are excited to embark on the next 60 years with over 70 national player associations working tirelessly to keeping players safe and improving their working rights."
