- This year’s FIFPRO World 11 marks a new era for the player-vote award: a trophy with a difference
- Each individual trophy is an elegant representation of the number ‘1’ and when all 11 come together, they form a larger prize representing the entire World 11
- The men’s and women’s World 11 – voted by the players, for the players – will be revealed on Monday 9 December
Who is better placed to decide football’s global team of the year than the players themselves?
The FIFPRO World 11 is the only global football award chosen exclusively by the players, and 2024 marks a record-breaking edition with 28,322 votes coming from 70 countries. This year also signifies a new era for the award: FIFPRO is delighted to reveal a new trophy that truly captures the collective spirit of the World 11.
Designed by the award-winning studio xCruza at their Argentinian base, the trophies when gathered form an Abrazo de Gol (Goal Hug) embodying the essence of football: a single gesture where the team's spirit merges. xCruza’s goal was to make each trophy an individual honour while also emphasising its part in a larger whole: the collective.
Players know the game best. They understand what it takes—on and off the field—to excel and achieve the highest standards in their profession. And unlike individual awards, the World 11 reflects the top players in each position to form a real team—a dream team, a collective where each player can shine.
Each individual trophy is an elegant representation of the number ‘1’, symbolising that each player is, in the eyes of their peers, the best in their position on the field. When all 11 trophies come together, they form a larger prize representing the entire World 11—celebrating the power of the team.
"With this design, we wanted to capture the essence of football’s most powerful moments: the goal celebrations, where every player feels part of something greater than themselves,” said xCruza Director Carlos Genoud.
xCruza Director Victoria Rique added: “Each trophy represents an individual achievement, yet together, they form a collective, honouring the unity and teamwork that define the World 11.”
Manufactured via CNC milling and laser engraving, the aluminium trophies stand at 35 centimetres and weigh one kilogram. Each trophy will be personally presented to every member of the 2024 men’s and women’s World 11.
"The FIFPRO World 11 trophy stands as a tribute to the spirit of football, where excellence is not just measured by individual skill, but by the strength of the collective,” said FIFPRO Communications Director Alejandro Varsky. “This design reflects our players’ values: teamwork, respect, and a shared journey. It’s a powerful symbol of their commitment to each other and to the game."
Save the date: World 11 to be revealed on 9 December
The FIFPRO Men’s World 11 and FIFPRO Women’s World 11, comprised of the most outstanding footballers from around the globe, will be revealed on Monday 9 December. The World 11 will be revealed digitally and winners will be individually presented with a new trophy in person.
First established by FIFPRO in 2005, the World 11 has since celebrated the world’s leading players every year and is the only global football award decided exclusively by footballers.
On Monday 2 December, FIFPRO will reveal the 26 men’s and women’s finalists who have received the most votes from their peers. The winners – the 11 men’s and women’s players who have received the most votes from their fellow professionals – will be officially named in the 2024 FIFPRO World 11 on Monday 9 December on FIFPRO’s digital channels.
