- The Real Madrid and Brazil forward is one of 26 finalists in the running for the 2024 FIFPRO Men's World 11
- The World 11 is the only global football award decided exclusively by the players
- The 2024 World 11 will be revealed on Monday 9 December on FIFPRO's digital channels
Vinicius Jr is the kind of player who leaves no lover of the beautiful game indifferent. Explosive dribbling with the ability to score important goals, the Brazilian has been a member of the world's sporting elite for a few seasons now. And in 2024, he is a strong candidate to once again make the World 11.
Vinicius Jr is among the 26 finalists shortlisted for this year's edition of the Men's World 11, which rewards individual performances between 21 August 2023 and 14 July 2024 inclusive.
Three strikers will be selected by professional footballers for the World 11, with the possibility of a fourth if the most voted player outside the 10 – one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three strikers – also plays as a striker. Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Cole Palmer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lamine Yamal are all in the running alongside the Brazilian.
Vinicius Jr's 2023/24 season
After a scintillating 2022/23 season, Vinicius Jr continued to demonstrate his talent in a campaign that saw him lift three titles: La Liga, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup. The European Super Cup could be added, but as it was played on 15 August, it was left out of the period taken into account for the 2024 Men's World 11.
His influence on Real Madrid's 16th Champions League title is beyond doubt: he was voted the best player of the tournament. He scored six goals – third after Mbappe and Kane – provided five assists and, as usual, appeared in the big moments, even scoring in the final against Borussia Dortmund.
In La Liga, Vinicius Jr was Real's second best player for attacking numbers: 15 goals and five assists, only surpassed by Jude Bellingham (19+6). In the Spanish Super Cup final against Barcelona, he scored a hat-trick to give Los Blancos their 13th title in the competition.
Vinicius Jr's individual achievements 2023/24
- Champions League Team of the Year
- La Liga Team of the Year
- Samba Gold 2023 (best Brazilian playing in Europe)
Vinicius Jr in the World 11
The fierce competition for the FIFPRO Men's World 11 has meant that, despite all his achievements, Vinicius Jr has made the team of the year only once.
That was in the 2023 edition, when he was awarded with a place alongside Messi, Mbappe and Haaland. Prior to that, he had not been on any of the shortlists in previous years.
Post of the Year
“I never think about the numbers when I go on the pitch. That's what gives me the peace of mind to keep scoring so many goals and assists, and helping my team in the most important moments.”
— by Vinicius Jr
