The Association of Bulgarian Footballers (ABF) has re-signed their Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Bulgarian Football Union (Bulgarian FA) and the Bulgarian Professional Football League (BPFL) for the sixth consecutive time.
It comes days before the 2024/25 First Professional Football League season in Bulgaria is due to kick off.
Bulgarian FA President Georgi Ivanov, BPFL President Atanas Karaivanov, and ABF President Doncho Donev signed the CBA to continue social dialogue, demonstrating its effectiveness and success in Bulgarian football.
The CBA is a crucial document for Bulgarian football, with BPFL representing employers (professional clubs), ABF representing employees (professional footballers), and the Bulgarian FA serving as the guarantor of the contract's implementation.
The CBA outlines the labour relations framework between clubs and players, covering aspects such as minimum wage, insurance, vacation, training conditions, and the terms for concluding and terminating employment contracts. The current CBA has identical conditions as the previous, but with a minimum wage increase for the top flight and second tier.
"On behalf of the ABF, I want to thank the Bulgarian FA President Georgi Ivanov and BPFL President Atanas Karaivanov for their excellent cooperation and understanding during the negotiations for signing the agreement," said ABF President Doncho Donev.
"Collective bargaining is fundamental in the football industry, emphasising democratic decision-making. With our signatures, we have continued the effective social dialogue in our country," said BPFL President Atanas Karaivanov.
"For the Bulgarian FA, as the guarantor of this contract, this event is extremely important. I want to thank the ABF and BPFL for their fruitful cooperation and commitment to advancing social dialogue in football at the national level," said Bulgarian FA President Georgi Ivanov.
