All over the world, representatives of professional footballers associations are travelling from club to club, to invite players to participate in the vote for the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2012. Today news from Morocco.

Last week, the national team of Morocco qualified for the CAF Cup of Nations 2013. In the qualifiers, the team of new coach Rachid Taoussi overturned a 2-0 deficit by beating Mozambique 4-0 in Marrakech. Abdelaziz Barrada, Houssine Kharja, Youssef El Arabi and Nordin Amrabat scored for the Atlas Lions.

During the training camp for the decisive match against Mozambique, representatives from the Moroccan professional footballers association AMF visited the national team, amongst others to ask the players to join the election for the 2012 FIFA FIFPro World XI. The whole team agreed.

In a relaxed atmosphere, the players received the ballots from AMF vice president Naji Melhli. One of these players was Younes Belhanda. The midfielder had a very important role in the championship run of Montpellier in France. The playmaker scored twelve goals and provided three assists. He was one of three nominees for the French Player of the Year title, organized by the players’ union UNFP.

Oussama Assaidi impressed in the Netherlands. The left winger was a crowd favorite at SC Heerenveen, supplying the league’s top goalscorer Bas Dost with numerous assists, and embarrassing opponents with his technical skills. Assaidi scored ten goals and had seven assists. This summer he signed at Liverpool.

Last season was the breakthrough-year for Abdelaziz Barrada. He established himself as an attacking midfielder at Getafe in Spain. And this season, he has already scored three goals in seven Primera División matches. Against Mozambique, he made his first goal for the Moroccan national team.
