All over the world, representatives of professional footballers associations are travelling from club to club, to invite players to participate in the vote for the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2012. Today news from Malta.

Players from Malta’s national team joined their colleagues around the world and casted their votes for the FIFA FIFPro XI 2012.

It must have been a strange feeling for the Maltese players voting for world class players such as Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Pirlo and Petr Cech since they have played against these stars in September and October respectively. Malta lost both games but played two great games. For long stretches during both games, the Maltese footballers played at par to both Italy and Czech Republic.

Roderick Briffa - the Malta and Valletta FC midfielder - scored a great goal against the goalkeeper he considers to be the best in the world, Petr Cech from the Czech Republic and Chelsea.

Gareth Sciberras - the Malta and Birkirkara FC - said: 'I am proud to form part of the big family of football players from different countries. Being chosen in the FIFA FIFPro World XI is a very prestigious achievement for a player since it’s the choice of peers.'

Besides the players of the national team, the Maltese professional footballers association MFPA, asked all other players in the countries Premier Division and 1st Division to join players from all over the world and vote for the 2012 FIFA FIFPro World XI. All participating players enjoyed this special occasion, MFPA’s officials noticed while visiting the clubs and collecting the ballot forms.
