For the second consecutive year, the national team of Spain will be playing a charity match, the takings of which will benefit AFE, the Spanish footballers’ association.

On February 9th of this year, Spain hosted Colombia for a friendly. More than 70 thousand spectators were in the Real Madrid Santiago Bernabeu stadium. The takings of the match were used to equip Second Division B stadiums with defibrillators and to further AFE's social project, which includes providing its members with study grants and the assistance of lawyers.

AFE president Luis Manuel Rubiales and Spanish football federation (RFEF) secretary general Jorge Pérez agreed on a new charity match to be played on February 29th 2012. It is still unknown who will be the opponent of the reigning World and European Champions.

Rubiales: ‘Following the success of the match between Spain and Colombia, AFE would like to express its appreciation for the agreement we have reached. We would like to thank the RFEF, the coaching staff and the players of our national team for their efforts regarding this game.’
