David Villa is one of the four newcomers in this year’s FIFA FIFPro World XI. The striker of Barcelona and the Spanish national team talked with FIFPro on the day he received his 2010 World XI award.

‘It has been my best year, regarding titles and goals, regarding everything’, Villa said. ‘I still remain the same person. But evidently, people recognize you in the street, and they flatter you even more for having won the World Championship.’

In front of the FIFPro camera, Villa talks about his successful year and winning the World Cup with the Spanish national team, his compassion for the Chilean miners who were trapped in a mine, and his life as a professional footballer.

Villa also explained why he, together with Real Madrid goal keeper Iker Casillas decided to take a position in the board of AFE, the association of Spanish professional footballers. ‘There are many problems that need to be fixed. It is important that people like Iker and me are there to support players from for example teams in the Second and Third Division.’
