Four years in a row, Iker Casillas has been voted as the goalkeeper of the FIFA FIFPro World XI. The captain of both Real Madrid and the Spanish national team is one of five players on this year’s shortlist.

During FIFPro’s recent visit of the Real Madrid training ground, Iker Casillas welcomed the delegations of FIFPro and the Spanish professional footballers’ association AFE, and stepped in front of the camera for an exclusive interview.

Sometimes it is hard to imagine that Casillas still is only 31 years old. Since the 1999-2000 season he is the number one choice in goal of Real. From that moment on he began collecting all trophees imaginable. In 2012, he added amongst others the Spanish League title and the European Championship with Spain.

Although Casillas is one of the biggest favourites to receive this year’s FIFA FIFPro World XI Award (it would be his fifth consecutive election), the Spanish goalkeeper remains humble, as he illustrates with his engagement with the Spanish footballers’ association AFE. Casillas is a board member of AFE.
