Dare Vrsic was the first Slovenian footballer to cast a vote for the 2011 FIFA FIFPro World XI. A few days later he helped his country beat Serbia.

The Slovenian professional footballers’ association SPINS had asked Vrsic for this official moment. The reason was clear: the striker of Olimpija Ljubljana is this year’s top goal scorer in the Slovenian first league.

This Tuesday Vrsic also helped Slovenia beat Serbia 1-0 in the final qualification group match for Euro 2012. The 27-year old midfielder scored in the added time of the first half with his surprising free-kick: the ball found the top right-hand corner to give Serbian goalkeeper Bojan Jorgacevic in the visitors' goal no chance: 1-0. Serbia's hopes of pipping Estonia to second spot in Group C and securing a play-off place were ended by Vrsic…
