The players of Legia Warsaw participated in voting for the 2013 FIFA FIFPro World XI. Most footballers from the Polish champions picked out the players of FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich as the game’s best in 2013.

After putting his form in the ballot box, Legia and Poland defender Jakub Rzezniczak willingly told the representatives of the Polish players union PZP how he composed his World XI.

‘Maybe I'm a little biased because I'm a fan of Real Madrid and I really appreciate Cristiano Ronaldo, I would pick him as the best player of the year, although Lionel Messi and Franck Ribéry have also been outstanding. They are the players that I admire the most for their achievements this year’, said Rzezniczak.

Being a sweeper himself, Rzezniczak didn’t have any trouble with choosing defenders for his World XI. ‘I spent part of my adventure in football at right back and have patterned myself after Dani Alves. I also selected Sergio Ramos and Gérard Pique, because to me they are still the best central defenders in the world at the moment.’

Rzezniczak and his teammates said they really appreciate the election for the FIFA FIFPro World XI. ‘I cannot imagine there is any better feeling than being chosen by your colleagues on the pitch. For example, defenders know against which forwards you have to play the hardest and vice versa. That’s why you could say that this award is the most appealing of all.’
