The national team of Namibia, also called The Brave Warriors, casted their votes for the 2011 FIFA FIFPro World XI on Wednesday 9 November 2011, after their last training session before departing for the crucial preliminary 2014 World Cup qualifier match away against Djibouti.

 

The initiative marks an important milestone in the relations and cooperation between the NFA (Namibian Football Association) and the NAFPU (Namibia Football Players Union), to recognize the rights and conditions of football players in Namibia and the World.

 

NAFPU on behalf of the Namibian Football Players commented the NFA and Namibian Premier League (NPL) for their support, commitment and positive attitude in recognizing the important contribution of football players and need for establishment of sound labour relations for the development and professionalization of football in Namibia.

 

It was the first time ever, that professional footballers in Namibia participated in the vote for the FIFPro World XI. Said Sylvester Goraseb, president of the NAFPU: ‘The Historic Vote, highlights the recognition of Namibian Football Players in the World Football Family.’
