At FIFPro, we are counting the days for the moment to reveal the 2012 FIFA FIFPro World XI. Only 20 days to go before the best eleven in the world will be called up on stage to receive their World XI award.

Although the election is officially closed and FIFPro has already counted all the votes, FIFPro is still receiving various pictures from players who have participated in this year’s election.

From England, representatives of the English professional footballers' association sent photos of Manchester City players filling in their ballots. Some of these players are mentioned on the shortlist and are among the candidates for this special award: David Silva, Sergio Agüero and Mario Balotelli.

Midfielder Silva is enjoying another fine year, winning the 2012 Premier League title and being an integral part of the Spanish squad that successfully defended its European championship in Poland and Ukraine, crushing Italy 4-0 in one of the most impressive team performances of 2012.

Silva’s Italian teammate Balotelli knows all about it, as he could only watch and appreciate the display of the Spanish. Balotelli also had a year to remember, with highs and lows, underlined by his extravert character. ‘Why always me?’

Balotelli’s and Silva’s colleague Agüero was the hero of Man City’s 2012 Premier League title. In the closing seconds of last season, with City desperately seeking the winning goal at Queens Park Rangers, the little striker from Argentina blasted the ball in the back of the net: 3-2. Fans of Manchester City still treasure the moment Agüero brought them the title after 93 minutes and 20 seconds of play.

Next to Silva, Balotelli and Agüero, als Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Touré are mentioned on the shortlist.
