Igor Ivanovic has received Montenegro's inaugural player of the season award. The striker of FC Sutjeska was honoured by his colleagues in an election organized by local player union SPFCG.

For the fourth year running SPFCG celebrated the most outstanding players in Montenegrin football. In the first three editions they awarded the Best XI of the first division. This season they added a prize for the best player.

Ivanovic was picked by 25% of the players, narrowly beating Drasko Bozovic to the prize. “It is a great honour to receive the award from my colleagues," Ivanovic said. "Thank you all for voting for me.”

His coach, Nikola Rakojevic, praised him: “He was one of our most crucial players in the second half of the season. His technique is good, he is excellent in one-on-one situations, he is cool in front of goal and he is also very good at his defensive tasks.” Ivanovic scored eight goals, all in the second half of the season.

Three teammates joined Ivanovic in the team of the year. Sutjeska had most players in the team, even though they finished fourth in the league. Champions Buducnost Podgorica had three men included.
