All over the world, representatives of professional footballers associations are travelling from club to club, to invite players to participate in the vote for the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2012. Today news from Indonesia.

A delegation of the professional footballers association of Indonesia (APPI) – including director Valentino Simanjuntak – visited the players of the national team of Indonesia before they were to play their recent friendly match against Cameroon, last Saturday November 17th (0-0).

The APPI delegation invited the members of the national team to participate in the election for the FIFA FIFPro World XI. They didn’t have to ask twice, the players enthusiastically took the forms from the delegates and started composing their team consisting of their favourite players.

Captain Elie Aiboy was one of the first players to cast his voting form in the ballot box. The 33-year old right winger from Semen Padang has made 48 appearances for the national team. Aiboy also played in Malaysia, where he won a championship and two cup titles with Selangor FA, and where he was also named Most Valuable Player of the FA Cup.

Bambang Pamungkas is probably the most popular player in Indonesia. Pamungkas (also known as Bepe) is the nation’s most capped player (85 caps) and top goalscorer (37 goals).

Currently, the 32-year old striker is playing for Persija Jakarta. Pamungkas als played in Malaysia, where he teamed together with Aiboy for Selangor FA. In two seasons in Malaysia, Bepe scored 63 goals. Pamungkas also tried his luck in The Netherlands, but returned to Indonesia after only four months.

Irfan Haarys Bachdim took the other route: the Dutch born player moved from The Netherlands to Indonesia. Bachdim’s father is Noval Bachdim (a former Indonesian footballer), his mother is Dutch. He was trained at the renowned youth program of Ajax, and later played for Haarlem and FC Utrecht.

In August 2010, Bachdim succeeded in finding a club in Indonesia. It was a dream come true for the midfielder. He signed at Persema Malang and proved to be a successful player in the Indonesian league. The 24-year old Bachdim has made 21 appearances for the national team and is one of the most popular players in Indonesia, probably the most adored by the female fans.
