All over the world, representatives of professional footballers associations are travelling from club to club, to invite players to participate in the vote for the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2012. Today news from France.

Among the clubs the representatives from the French professional footballers’ association UNFP have visited, are AS Nancy and HSC Montpellier, the reigning champions of France.

Last year, Montpellier HSC surprised many followers by taking the French Ligue 1 title. Olivier Giroud (now Arsenal) and Younès Belhanda were the aces during their unexpected championship run. Defenders Victorino Hilton and Henri Bedimo also proved to be valuable, as they were both chosen in the Team of the Year by their colleagues in the French league.

Who knows, they might find themselves on the shortlist for the FIFA FIFPro World XI, this year. That might be another reason for the players of MHSC to participate in the vote: trying to help a teammate into the elite of all professional footballers in the world.

Some of the participating players were willing to pose in front of the camera of the UNFP representative: defender Benjamin Stambouli, midfielder Anthony Mounier, forward Gaetan Charbonnier and goalkeeper Laurent Pionnier.

This season, champions Montpellier are surprisingly struggling - currently 15th in the 20-team Ligue 1. But AS Nancy face even more hardship. They find themselves in the relegation zone, having won only one match in eight outings. Goalkeeper Guy N’dy Assembe and midfielder Benjamin Moukandjo (both from Cameroon) and their teammates hope to end this bad start to the season. Last year, ASNL took the 11th spot.
