Team JPY began its preparation for the FIFPro Winter Tournament on a high note. The Finnish footballers’ association’s team of unemployed has organized its first training camp and played its first game.

Team JPY had a two-day training camp in Eerikkilä. Coach Juha Reini, the former 23-time Finnish international defender, and his assistant Janne Moilanen welcomed 16 players. They practised twice a day in the Eerikkilä football hall.

After the training camp, Team JPY played its first match, and won. Coach Reini’s squad beat third leaguers BK-46 with 4-2. Zakaria Abahassine scored twice, Tommi Siekkiselle and Jussi-Pekka Savolaiselle each scored once.

The last three seasons Zakaria Abahassine played for JJK in the Veikkausliga, the highest level in Finland. The 22-year old attacking midfielder/winger is out of contract and hopes to find a new professional football club via Team JPY, just like his 15 colleagues in this squad.

Team JPY is one of the four participants of the inaugural FIFPro Winter Tournament 2011. Next to the Finnish association JPY, also the footballers’ associations of Ireland (PFAI), Norway (NISO) and Sweden (SFS) will play in the tournament on January 14th in Oslo, Norway.
