FIFPro is preparing for its annual general assembly, to be held in Washington DC from October 9 until 11. The worldwide representative organization for all professional footballers will amongst others welcome its counterparts from USA’s major sports.

In the United States capital, FIFPro will discuss the current status of professional football (soccer) with representatives of its 46 member players’ associations and 9 candidate member unions. A total of approximately 150 representatives will gather in the W Hotel.

Among the issues on the agenda are the fight against match-fixing, WADA and its anti-doping policy, FIFPro’s concerns about CAS, the cooperation with Uni Global Union, FARE and its anti-racism activities, an evaluation of the handling of FIFA DRC and NDRC cases, and a special guest appearance by HRH Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, FIFA Vice president.

Among the highlights of the FIFPro General Assembly will be Thursday’s meeting with representatives of the four biggest professional athletes’ associations in the United States:

  • DeMaurice Smith, executive director of the National Football League Players’ Association (NFLPA)
  • Dave Kiefer, counsel of the National Basketball Players’ Association (NBPA)
