FIFPro is looking forward to the social dialogue plenary meeting in Brussels, next Monday, where an agreement regarding minimum requirements for standard player contracts in the professional football sector in the European Union, and in the rest of the UEFA Territory, is expected to be agreed on.

On Monday 28 February, all FIFPro’s member associations from the EU (including Norway and Switzerland) will gather in Brussels for the plenary meeting concerning the European Social Dialogue in the Professional Football Sector. The plenary will of course also feature representatives from the other social partners EPFL and ECA as well as the governing body of European football UEFA. Michael Van Praag, president of the Dutch Football Federation (KNVB) and senior member of the UEFA Executive Committee, will chair the meeting.

‘FIFPro is looking forward to this plenary’, says Mads Øland, the spokesperson of FIFPro’s Social Dialogue task force. ‘We are now finally ready to take a very important decision for the benefit of the entire professional football sector. The minimum requirements represent a standard for proper behaviour for both club and player.’

Apart from agreeing on the autonomous agreement regarding minimum requirements for standard player contracts in the professional football sector in the European Union, and in the rest of the UEFA Territory, new important issues for discussion in the social dialogue committee will also be adopted in a work program for 2011 and 2012.
