FIFPro sponsored and attended a recent event organized by Show Racism the Red Card at the Emirates Stadium in London, the home of Premier League side Arsenal.

Show Racism the Red Card had invited young people from Laycock and Montem Primary Schools to attend an all day event, which was held in partnership with Arsenal FC and Islington Council

The event got underway with a ground tour and a carousel of anti-racism workshops, which focused on exploring stereotypes, defining racism and learning about how to deal with racism.

In the afternoon, the young people watched the brand new Show Racism the Red Card DVD featuring top professional footballers, before posing questions on racism to a panel comprising of Arsenal legend Paul Davis, PFA Deputy General Secretary and FIFPro Board Member Bobby Barnes, Chelsea ladies star Drew Spence, comedian Ava Vidal and ex-professional footballers and SRtRC staff members Clint Easton, Osei Sankofa and Paul Mortimer.

On behalf of FIFPro, Secretary General Theo van Seggelen and anti-racism spokesman Tony Higgins attended the event.

Tony Higgins: ‘FIFPro thanks Arsenal for hosting the event at their great stadium. We enjoyed this special day and are convinced that these young people understand the anti-racism message that we are carrying out in close collaboration with Show Racism the Red Card. Anti-racism starts with educating young people about equality and the dangers of prejudice and stereotypes.’
