FIFPro has organized the first in a series of training workshops for African player unions.

Staff from 11 unions took part in the two-day session about communications and social media in Gaborone, Botswana.

The group discussed how to effectively use websites, apps and social media to stay connected with professional players as well as football authorities and fans.

“It was important that the communication officers from each of the associations could get to know each other and exchange information,” said Kgosana Masaseng (pictured above), from the Footballers Union of Botswana, who hosted the event.

“We want to develop a sense of belonging to a group so we can support each other and build a common strategy not only to serve each member union but also the whole of the African region.”

FIFPro plans to hold workshops on other issues including legal affairs and administration. The next session will be on finance in Ghana in October.
