Footballers in Colombia thoroughly enjoyed being part of the vote for the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2010. The country’s players’ union ACOLFUTPRO visited all clubs in the first and second division and returned with their ballot boxes stuffed with forms.

‘The players filled in their ballots with great enthusiasm’, noticed Gustavo Quijano, coordinator of ACOLFUTPRO. ‘The took the opportunity to compose their favourite team.’Quijano and his colleagues collected 610 ballot forms, that are on their way back from Colombia to FIFPro’s head office in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands.

Among the footballers filling in their ballots were Jairo Leonardo Patiño (captain of Atlético Nacional), Carlos Andres Rodas (Corporación Deportes Quindio and current top goal scorer of Colombia’s Primera División), Andres Felipe Mosquera Marmolejo (CD Bogota and Colombia U-20 player), and Juan Guillermo Castillo (Deportivo Cali goal keeper and member of the Uruguayan national team during the World Cup in South Africa).
