FIFPro Division Europe proudly hosted the first edition of the "Active Workplace Football Tournament" as part of the European Commission’s first-ever European Week of Sport.

Last Thursday 10 September in Brussels, eight teams composed of staff members representing the European Youth Forum, Euro Chambers, UNI Europa, Business Europe, Politico, the European Commission, 3M and Burson Marsteller joined the call for active and healthy lifestyles.

The European Week of Sport is a new initiative of the European Commission to promote sport and physical activity across Europe. The Week generates new activities and also builds on already existing successful initiatives in the European, national, regional or local context. This European-wide campaign will inspire Europeans to #BeActive during the Week and encourage them to stay active all year long.

In the context of its partnership with the European Commission, FIFPro organised the one-day event at the premises of the European Sport Village in Brussels to raise awareness on the importance of active workplaces, one of the four central focus themes of the European Week of Sport.

"This first edition of the tournament was a great success, all participants had a great time and were engaged in the competition," said Jonas Baer-Hoffmann, FIFPro Division Europe’s Director Policy. "Having the opportunity to be active and compete as a team with your colleagues made for a great day."

"By participating in the FIFPro Football Tournament, all companies and organisations showed their commitment to the promotion of Active Workplaces," Baer-Hoffmann continued. "The Week of Sport is an important initiative by the Commission and we are looking forward to extend our partnership in the coming years."
