With great sadness English club Rushden and Diamonds announced the decease of Dale Roberts. The 24-year old goalkeeper passed away on Tuesday December 14th. It has yet to be revealed how the England C international died. He was found dead at his home. According to the police his death is not suspicious.

Roberts was the number one goalkeeper at Rushden and Diamonds, a Conference side, the fifth professional level in England. He joined The Diamonds in January 2009 after leaving Nottingham Forest. He also had played on loan for Eastwood Town and Alfreton Town before signing at Rushden and Diamonds.

In total Roberts made 91 appearances for Rushden and Diamonds. He was voted England C player of the season in 2009-2010. England C is a team that features footballers that don’t play in The Football League.

England C manager Paul Fairclough spoke of a tragic loss. ‘Dale, as well as being an outstanding goalkeeper, was an outstanding young man in every sense of the word. These sentiments serve little to describe the magnitude of this shocking bereavement. My thoughts are with his family and all those who have been touched by this true gentleman.’
