The Croatian Olympic Committee (COC) and the Croatian Association Football Union (HUNS) signed on Monday, 7th of November 2011, at the headquarters of the COC, an Understanding and Cooperation Agreement.

The agreement was signed by HUNS President Dario Simic, HUNS Secretary General Mario Juric and COC Secretary General Josip Cop. The signing of the agreement signals the beginning of a mutual cooperation and development partnership.

As a former FC Hajduk Split and FC Dinamo Zagreb player, Josip Cop is very familiar with the particular problems of Croatian football.

'COC was the mastermind behind the Croatian Union of Sports. I think that athletes should protect their rights and interests. We support the HUNS initiative, and hope that it will encourage other athletes to form their own unions', said Josip Cop (pictured below).

Mario Juric, Secretary General of the Croatian footballers' association added: 'HUNS was established to protect the interests and rights of the players, coaches and other employees in Croatian football.'

'We are honored that the COC, as an important factor in Croatian sport, has shown its interest in the Croatian football players.'

'I am confident that together we can contribute to improving the status of many players', said Juric.
