In recent years, players of FC Barcelona have got used to winning all sorts of prizes and trophies. They are the planet’s most successful team since 2006. Nevertheless, these footballers still appreciate the opportunity to pick their FIFA FIFPro World XI with great pleasure.

‘It is an honour to be chosen by your peers as a member of the FIFA FIFPro World XI, the best team in the world’, David Villa said while dropping his voting form in the ballot box. He has been picked in the World XI two years ago.

Since FIFPro initiated the World XI election in 2005, Barcelona has emerged as the club that provided the most members of this elite squad. Last year, Dani Alves, Gerard Piqué, Andrés Iniesta, Xavi and Lionel Messi were picked by their colleagues worldwide. In previous years, other Barça players such as Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto’o, David VIlla and Carles Puyol were awarded.

On Thursday, seventeen players of the current Barcelona squad dropped in to pick up a ballot for the FIFA FIFPro World XI. Amongst others David Villa, Adriano Correia, Carles Puyol, Eric Abidal, Cesc Fabregas, Javier Mascherano, Lionel Messi, Pedro, Xavi and Sergio Busquets took time to choose their favorite team. Even Gerard Piqué, recovering from a foot injury, appeared on site wearing a cast on his left leg.

All players seemed to enjoy the moment, as they were all smiles when thinking who to select in their team.
