Despite the pandemic, HUNS staff continued its tradition and visited all teams in their top league, the HT Prva Liga. Of course, all visits were held in compliance with the country’s health measures to minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19.

“HUNS has always wanted to create a unique and prestigious event that brings together relevant actors in Croatian football as well as sports in general, and recognises the positive things of the past season,” said HUNS General Secretary Mario Jurić, who collected the votes together with his colleagues Ivica Landeka, Olivera Peroli Žodan and Sandro Šoronda.

“We noticed the players’ enthusiasm when they were filling in their ballots. They took it very seriously,” Jurić added. “We thank all players, coaches and clubs for their cooperation.”

Next to Modric receiving the Croatian Player of the Year award, several other players received personal honours. Bruno Petković (from champions GNK Dinamo Zagreb) was picked as Best Player in Croatia’s top league, while his teammate Joško Gvardiol was named Best Talent by his peers.

Another trophy also went to Dinamo, as Dominik Livaković was voted best goalkeeper.

All awards went to two teams: GNK Dinamo Zagreb and NK Osijek.
