FIFA and FIFPRO have launched the vote for the 2019-2020 World 11s. Male and female professional footballers across the globe can vote for the players who they think have been last season’s most outstanding performers.

The World 11 is a unique accolade, as it is the only global award that is decided by players only. There is no predetermined shortlist. Players may vote for any footballer who they think is the best performer in his or her position.

The World 11 is all about the players’ voice. They know what it takes to be a top performer and are therefore in the best position to judge the talents and strengths of their peers.

The voting process is different from what it has been in previous years. Due to Covid-19 safety precautions, FIFPRO and its player unions will not be visiting the players at their clubs to hand over the traditional paper voting ballots. Nonetheless, we are able to continue our annual tradition by using a digital voting platform. All professional footballers will receive a link from their player union to participate in this year’s election.

Officially the vote began on Monday 16 November, with players from Malaysia being the first to submit their votes digitally. The election ends on 9 December. Approximately 30,000 male and female footballers participated in each of the previous elections.

On Thursday 10 December, FIFPRO and FIFA will announce the lists of 55 male and female players who received the most votes. One week later, on 17 December, FIFPRO and FIFA will unveil the Men’s and Women’s World 11s during the Best FIFA Football Awards.
