It is the only global player award voted for exclusively by footballers – and the votes come in from every continent.

About the voting procedure:
Footballers pick the three players who, in their opinion, were the most outstanding in the 2020/2021 season in each of the following positions: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards.

The goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards with the most votes in their position make it into the Women’s FIFA FIFPRO World 11. The other spot is assigned to the outfield player with the next highest number of votes.
