Xabi Alonso managed to keep his spot on the FIFA FIFPro World XI. The midfielder of Real Madrid and the national team of Spain again illustrated how instrumental he is for both teams.

The midfielder might not receive the heaps of praise or the massive attention teammates such as Cristiano Ronaldo or Iker Casillas and countrymen like Xavi and Andrés Iniesta are showered with, but Xabi Alonso is always present and always important. For example, since his arrival from Liverpool in 2009, only Iker Casillas has played more games at Real Madrid than Xabi Alonso.

Another fine way to illustrate his class was Xabi Alonso’s display in the quarter-final of Euro 2012 against France, when he scored twice in his 100th appearance for Spain, guiding his team to the semi-final.

In May, the 31 year old midfielder celebrated the first league title in his career, when Real Madrid captured the Spanish championship.
