Professional career
Gerardo González Movilla was a professional player for CD Tenerife for seven years. 

He was a founding member of the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) and has sat on its executive committee since its foundation, first as Vice President and currently as President. 

Gerardo is president of the Mutual Association of Professional Sportspersons (MDP), a body which manages pension plans for professional sportspersons in Spain and to which sportspersons from 17 different sports currently belong. 

He is member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Confederation of Mutual Associations. 

He is member of the Management Committee of the government-appointed High Council for Sport. 

Gerardo is member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Spanish Football Federation since 1988. 

He is a member of the government-appointed National Commission against Violence at Sporting Events. 

He is a member of the High Council for the Televising and Retransmission of Sporting Events. 

Gerardo is a member of the Joint Commission for the Transformation of Clubs into Public Limited Sports Companies of the government-appointed High Council for Sport. 

He is a founding member of the National Commission against Doping in Sport. 

Gerardo has been admitted into the Royal Order of Sporting Merit, by order of the Spanish government, in recognition of his lifelong contribution to the sporting world.
